The first 500's (1950's to early 1960's) had metal fingerwheels. These sets are hardwired (have fixed connections at the base and handset, rather than the later modular clip in connections) but all have modular plugs to plug into modern wall jacks. NOTE: In case you are not already sure, please verify that your telephone service will accept pulse dialing before you order. Many of the VOIP (voice over internet protocol; digital telephone) systems no longer accept pulse dialing. Standard "POTS" copper wire systems almost always accept pulse dialing, but it's good to check.
